Faculty:
With more than 700 students, the Faculty of “Social Work and Health” is the largest faculty at the HAWK. A total of 24 professors, seven lecturers for special tasks, three doctorate assistants as well as more than 100 teachers paid on a fee basis and eleven employees in technical services and administration provide for teaching, research and study operations at the university campus in Hildesheim.
Hildesheim (a city with approx. 100,000 inhabitants) campus is currently home to three courses of study that go back to a college department for Social Pedagogy/Social Work originally founded in 1971. This is where the majority of students are enrolled and study in small groups.
Incomings are always welcome in Hildesheim
In addition to the outstanding support provided by the HAWK International Office, all incomings are supported and well taken care of by the faculty. A one-semester programme with 30 ECTS is specially offered to students from partner universities and Socrates/Erasmus partners. This offer consists of eight courses in English, an intensive course in German (prior to the beginning of the semester) and a course entitled “German for students from partner universities for social work” during the semester. Each course is awarded 3 ECTS. The examinations are given in the form of written exams, oral exams, project work, term papers and seminar presentations. Alternatively, any of the courses provided in the Faculty can also be attended.
